Your adventure begins as we welcome you at Srinagar Airport. A scenic 2-hour drive will transport you to the winter wonderland of Gulmarg. Check into your cozy room at Shanu Lodge. In the evening, you'll meet your instructor for an orientation. We'll fit you with high-quality ski equipment (boots, skis, helmet) to ensure you're comfortable and ready for your first day on the slopes.
After a filling breakfast, you'll head to the "baby slopes." This crucial day is all about fundamentals. Your instructor will teach you how to balance on skis, glide in a straight line, and most importantly, how to make a "wedge" or "snowplough" turn to control your speed and stop safely. It's a day of progress and building a solid foundation.
Today, you put your skills to the test! You'll take the legendary Gulmarg Gondola up to the Kongdori station (Phase 1). The views from the cable car are spectacular. From the top, you'll embark on your longest run yet, a wide, gentle slope perfect for beginners. Your instructor will guide you down, helping you link your turns and truly experience the feeling of mountain skiing.
Enjoy one last Kashmiri breakfast and, if time permits, a final warm-up run on the slopes to solidify your new skills. After packing up your memories, we will drive you back to Srinagar Airport for your departure, leaving you with a newfound passion for skiing and the mountains.
Yes! Our intensive Gulmarg ski course for beginners is designed for rapid learning. While you won't be an expert, you will learn all the fundamental skills to ski safely and confidently on beginner and easy intermediate slopes.
The 4-day course is a "quickstart" program focused on getting you skiing independently on beginner slopes quickly. The 6-day package offers more practice time to refine your technique, build stamina, and explore more of the mountain at a relaxed pace.
A basic level of fitness is helpful. The course is designed for beginners, so we progress at a pace that is comfortable for the group. Being able to walk or jog for 20-30 minutes is a good benchmark.
This tour is ideal for absolute beginners, but it can also serve as a great refresher course. Please let us know your skill level when booking, and our instructors can tailor the lessons to help you progress further.
Essential items are thermal inner layers, fleece jackets, warm woollen socks, a cap, and sunglasses/goggles. The main waterproof ski jacket and pants can be easily rented in Gulmarg. We can guide you to the best rental shops.
